Saving Centsably

Welcome to the world of SavingCentsably! This is a place where I get the opportunity to teach you all I know about saving money and thriving even while doing all I can do spend as little as possible!

My name is Rachael, and with four young children, a husband, two house payments, and one full-time income, I know quite a bit about stretching our money and making each little bit count as much as it can!

Saving Centsably Workshops began out of a ministry at the church where my husband currently serves as youth pastor. A friend of mine and I would meet weekly with a group of ladies to encourage them in their efforts to save more, spend less, and still be able to purchase more at the same time! Eventually SavingCentsably became an on-the-road workshop. I have literally been all over the state of Georgia teaching groups of people new ways to shop…and save!

Last year our family of 6 spent $52.03/week on everything we need to run our household. That’s cleaners, food, toiletries, over the counter medicine, and more! This year my goal is to stay right at $50/week!

2011 was one of the best years I’ve ever had couponing–our family only spent an average of $40.48/week on toiletries, groceries and household supplies for a family of 6! Altogether, about $2100 that year.

In 2010 our family spent about $8,000 for everything it took to provide for our everyday needs (and some wants). That $8,000 included car parts and batteries (yes, there are coupons for those!), clothing for 4 kids, Pull-Ups for three kids, and all the food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies needed to run our home. The total value of those items: over $20,000. In 2010 we saved over $12,000.00 using coupons and shopping sales!

In 2009, our family of six spent just over $5,000 during the whole year for food, clothing, toiletries, PULL-UPs, and all those little things needed to run a home. (This figure did not include things like rent, utilities or gasoline.) We purchased items in that 12 month period whose value totaled over $12,100. That was a 60% savings over the course of the year, and proves just how much coupons and thrifty shopping can make a difference!

I hope that you’ll find great ideas on SavingCentsably.com that helps YOU learn how to accomplish this same level of savings. And, if you’re willing, maybe you’ll host a Saving Centsably Coupon Workshop, too!

Keep Saving Centsably!

Rachael

  1. I love your website. I come here to see what great deals you have brought us. This site helps me provide for my 4 kids and grandchild. I have saved so much since learning of your webpage. Please keep up the good work, you are a true angel!!!!

  2. What is different between your workshop and some others that have been offered in the Macon area for free? I am all for saving money and have saved significantly compared to what I was spending but still spend around $100/wk on groceries.

    • My workshops are a little longer than the free workshops that are sponsored by The Telegraph. I cover grocery savings and also spend my last hour discussing savings on prescriptions, movies, and more!

I have never been to a Saving Sense workshop so I really can’t tell you the differences. I have a family of 6 and I spend on average $50/week on groceries, since I have a well-developed stockpile.

      Hope this helps!
      Rachael

  3. Rachael, Thank you so much for coming to Mable White to share your valuable knowledge! Now, if I just had a computer, I could “go to town” !
I am the one that you were to drop my left-behind material at the church office on Friday afternoon. Sorry, it’s closed after 12 or 1:00. Please slide it in the door or just lay it down by the door. You’re going to a workshop at 6pm (?), so I will check after that. Thank you so much for your extra effort for me. Sincerely, Margaret Johnson 770-713-1974

  4. Have you been having problems with Walmart accepting your internet coupons lately? I tried to use some today, and even the cashier didn’t understand why they wouldn’t take them. She said it had been happening a lot the last couple of weeks and that Walmart was losing a lot of money and business because of this. But the manager says if it will not scan they will not accept it. No exceptions, period. This is at the local sore in Dublin. Thanks in advance for any help!!

    • Honestly, every WalMart is different despite their national coupon policy. I rarely shop at WalMart, largely because of the trouble I so often have with the cashiers. You just have to be careful which cashier you get and then you have to watch carefully and KNOW THE POLICY. I certainly wish there was more uniformity! Good luck!

  5. Rachel, I need info on the upcoming date for you to come to Millegeville FUMC, please. I actually need to talk with you 678-230-6113. I am in charge for the visit and do seem to know enough about your program. If you could give me a call I promise not to take up too much of your time and would deeply appreciate your help.
    God Bless,
    Debbie
